چکیده
In the present work, the accumulation pattern of sub-lethal doses (0.005, 0.0025 and 0.001 μgl) of copper (Cu) in different tissues of Indian flying barb, Esomus danricus and its influence on the rate of oxygen consumption of this fish at the end of 28 days of exposure were studied. It was found that the pattern of accumulation changed with concentration. Cu concentration increased in all the tissues except bone and brain and the rate of uptake of Cu increased with time in the gill, liver and flesh but remained same in kidney. Treatment of 0.005 and 0.0025 μgl of Cu produced significant decline in the rates of oxygen consumption of the fish at all exposure duration, while treatment of 0.001 μgl produced similar decline only after 14 days of exposure when compared to control. Higher doses of exposure had more severe effects.

Cadmium Induced Histopathological Changes in the Intestine of Indian Flying Barb, Esomus danricus
Indian flying barb (Esomus danricus) was exposed to sublethal concentrations of 636.3, 63.6 and 6.3 μgl-1 Cadmium for 28 days and intestinal histopathology was observed by light microscopy after staining with Haematoxylin-Eosine. Exposed fishes showed severe to mild superficial erosion of mucosa, dense lamina propria, chronic inflammatory cell infiltration as well as vacuolation. With the incre...
متن کاملStudies on the Development of Potential Biomarkers for Rapid Assessment of Copper Toxicity to Freshwater Fish using Esomus danricus as Model
Living in an environment that has been altered considerably by anthropogenic activities, fish are often exposed to a multitude of stressors including heavy metals. Copper ions are quite toxic to fish when concentrations are increased in environmental exposures often resulting in physiological, histological, biochemical and enzymatic alterations in fish, which have a great potential to serve as ...

Background: This study aims to investigate the patterns of bioaccumulation and depuration of copper in the selected kidney and liver of Capoeta fusca. Methods: The fish were collected between September and November 2010 from a qanat in Birjand. They were exposed to two types treatments with copper (0.25 and 0.75 mg/L) for a period of 41 days. The fish under study were exposed to the above-ment...

The present study was performed to evaluate the protective effect of molasses pretreatment on the liver index of common carp (Cyprinus carpio) in exposure to copper oxide and titanium nanoparticles. Therefore, 250 juveniles of common carp for 42 days in four categories, rations without molasses (treatment 1), diets containing 0.5% molasses (treatment 2), diets containing 1% molasses (treatment ...
متن کاملThe assessment of histopathological change induced in the tissues of the Cyprinus carpio and Rutilus caspicus fry after acute exposure of Copper (CuSO4)
Cu is an essential micronutrient which is found in either water environment or fish diet. In addition, copper sulfate is an effective algaecide for algal control in fish pond. Therefore, toxicity test seems to be necessary to predict the safe concentrations of chemicals in the environment. The experiments were conducted to study of mortality rate of acute toxicity of Copper (CuSO4) in Common Ca...
